Karimot Odebode

Founder and Project Lead, Black Girl's Dream Initiative, Nigeria

Karimot Odebode is a poet and advocate from Ibadan Nigeria. She is one of the 17 SDGs Young Leaders recognized by the UN. Karimot is the Founder & Project Lead at the Black Girl's Dream Initiative where she works to end Female Genital Mutilation; promote Education and Gender Equality. Karimot is a graduate of Law from Obafemi Awolowo University. She has performed at several high-level meetings and uses her poetry to promote the SDGs and create a safe world for girls/women. She created the Transform Education anthem for the United Nation's Girls Education Initiative (UNGEl), and has been featured by Global Education Summit, Plan International, BBC Media Action, ITU etc. Karimot was a two-time Champion for ONE Campaign where she advocated against inequality. She was recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Oyo State Government as one of the twenty women who #breakthebias with her advocacy. Karimot is the author of 'a woman has many names', a poetry collection with 107 poems.
