Simbarashe Gukurume

Senior Lecturer, Sol Plaatje University, South Africa/Zimbabwe

Simbarashe Gukurume is a Social Scientist working at the intersections of Sociology and Social Anthropology and a senior lecturer at Sol Plaatje University in the Department of Social Sciences (Sociology). Simbarashe is also a Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg, Department of Anthropology and Development Studies. Simbarashe has been a recipient of the Matasa Network Fellowship award, IDS (University of Sussex), the Harry Frank Guggenheim Young African Scholars award, the SSRC Research award, the African Peace Building Network (APN) individual grant, and the Academy for African Urban Diversity (AAUD) award. He is also a mentor in the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation's young African scholars programme. Simbarashe's recent publications are in the Journal of Contemporary African Studies, African Identities, Journal of Asian and African Studies, Politikon, and the IDS Bulletin. Simbarashe is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
