Ms. Chochua is a Georgian lawyer, with master degree in public administration. She is a Board Member of the European Forum for Restorative Justice and Rule of Law Adviser of DAI Europe Business Unit of Governance and Social Development. Maia has twenty four years of experience in justice sector reform. She has held senior positions within USAID and European Union supporting justice sector and good governance reform projects, targeting the following areas: judicial reform, liberalization of criminal justice policy and capacity building of criminal justice institutions, strengthening of bar and legal aid service, reforming juvenile justice system, promoting application of restorative justice and restorative practices, building resocialization and rehabilitation programs in the probation and penitentiary systems, sector management and interagency cooperation, etc. Ms. Chochua supported development and implementation of the Juvenile Justice Code of Georgia. Ms. Chochua is founder of a non-profit organization "New Page", which supports rehabilitation of children, in conflict with the law. She believes that widespread application of restorative justice and restorative practices is the way to build safe societies. Maia is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
