Richard Crooks

Curriculum Specialist, Ministry of Education, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates

Richard is a Curriculum Specialist working within the Ministry of Education in the UAE. He is involved in reviewing and developing the visual arts curriculum for national secondary schools. A particular focus is integrating different art traditions within a framework that is sensitive to and engaged with, local traditions and contemporary contexts. He is a practising artist, exhibiting in national and international galleries and has participated in numerous, juried artist-in-residence programmes throughout Asia. He is currently co-curating an exhibition programme in the UAE. Richard delivered education programmes on behalf of the British Council Thames Festival in Bangldesh and participated in their Connecting Classrooms project for several years whilst Head of Department in London Secondary schools. He completed his BA (hons) in Fine Art (sculpture) at Bath Academy of Art. First Class, Henry Moore Fellowship Award. MA Sculpture at Wimbledon School of Art;MA Ceramics a t UWIC, AHRB full bursary. Art Teachers Certificate, Goldsmiths'College, University of London.
