Irene Gauto

Technical Assistant of "Asuncion Green City", United Nations Development Programme, Paraguay

Irene Gauto is a technical assistant for the "Asuncion Green City" project at UNDP Paraguay. She is an urban parks enthusiast and is responsible at the project for improving the management of green spaces in 11 municipalities. During the last 7 years, Irene worked and performed trainings in botanical gardens, and led an ex situ conservation project for a globally threatened palm tree. Her interest for urban parks and public spaces has led her to participate actively within the Asociacion Nacional de Parques y Recreación de México and she has recently gotten involved with the World Urban Parks association. She enjoys visiting parks with her children and gets involved in improvements in her neighborhood together with the community and the municipality. She graduated from the Asuncion National University with a bachelor's degree in biology and from Geneva University with a master's degree in conservation biology.
