Peter is a research scientist in the Conflict Resolution and Coexistence Program at Brandeis University's Heller School for Social Policy and Management. He is also a co-principal investigator at the peacebuilding and research NGO, Everyday Peace Indicators. Peter's research addresses issues of measurement, political violence, peacebuilding and transitional justice, both in the United States and abroad. Currently, he is working on reparations and truth processes in Colombia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and on social justice processes in the United States. A sociologist by training, he works with interdisciplinary teams of political scientists, legal scholars, and peacebuilders, drawing on qualitative methods like focus groups and quantitative methods like population surveys. Peter holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Peter is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
