Kathy McDonald

Dr. Kathryn (Kathy) McDonald is the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Health Systems, Quality and Safety at Johns Hopkins University. She holds primary appointments in the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine (General Internal Medicine), and affiliations in public health, business and engineering. She is on the Steering Committee for the Center for Equity in Aging at Hopkins, and Co-Director of the Armstrong Institute Center for Diagnostic Excellence at the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. Previously, she was the founding Executive Director of the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research at Stanford University's School of Medicine, and Executive Director of the Center for Health Policy at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Her scholarly and leadership activities rely on close partnerships with patients, families, frontline clinical teams, public health and delivery system leaders to find systematic ways for organizations to advance health and well-being.
