Farid Hafez

Researcher, Department of Political Science, University of Salzburg; Editor of the German "Jahrbuch für Islamophobieforschung" (Islamophobia Studies Yearbook)

Farid Hafez is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of Political Science at the University of Salzburg and the current editor for the Jahrbuch für Islamophobieforschung (Islamophobia Studies Yearbook). Previously, he has taught at the University of Klagenfurt and the Muslim Teachers Training College University in Vienna. In addition, he has acted as a visiting lecturer at Istanbul University and Osmangazi University and a visiting scholar at Columbia University. Farid has published many publications on the topic of islamophobia, politics, and international relations, including the Bruno-Kreisky-Award winning anthology Islamophobie in Österreich (Islamaphobia in Austria), which won best political book of the year 2009. He earned a M.Sc. in Civic Education from the University of Klagenfurt and Krems, as well as a M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Vienna. Farid is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
