Brenda Katwesigye

Managing Director, Wazi Vision, Kampala, Uganda

Brenda Katwesigye is the founder and CEO of Wazi Vision, a company that builds mobile technologies for diagnosis of eye defects and provides eye glasses made from recycled material to school-going children in Uganda. She is passionate about creating sustainable solutions that make health care more accessible, available and affordable. Brenda has championed various mobile health care solutions, winning awards such as the Africa Rethink Award for African Female Entrepreneur 2016, International Telecommunication Union's Young Innovators Award, Public Health Award for best Innovation in Health and the SITIC Toumai Grand Prize for Innovation; among others. She was also a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University and a member of the Regional Advisory Board for the Young African Leaders Initiative. Her passion for technology has led her to teach herself programming in Python, Java and Ruby on Rails; which has furthered her mobile technology exploits. She has over three years consulting experience working on assignments in IT audit, governance, and assurance at Deloitte East Africa and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor. Brenda holds a bachelor's degree in telecommunication engineering.
