Gabriel El Khili

Program Specialist - Focal Point for Tunisia and Mauritania, UNESCO, Tunisia

Gabriel el Khili is a program specialist at UNESCO in Rabat, Tunisia. Since he joined UNESCO in 2008, Gabriel has worked on issues relating to education in emergency situations as well as teacher education and curriculum. He has covered policies and planning, rights to education advocacy, research, and capacity development by assisting ministries of education in different countries around the world. Before he joined UNESCO, Gabriel worked in several U.N. and non-U.N. organizations, mainly in Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia. In his professional career, Gabriel has worked on human rights, humanitarian work, peacekeeping, information management, and education. Currently, he coordinates a U.N. platform for human rights and citizenship in Tunisia and manages a social transformation project in Mauritania. He received a B.A. in international relations and M.A. in cultural studies from the University of Oslo, Norway, as well as an M.A. from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, France.
