My name is Lilly Santoyo and I am a first generation student at Nevada State College. I am currently obtaining my Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Counseling and Communications. In addition, I am also part of a program at Nevada State College called Nepantla. I was one of the first students in this program when it started back in the summer of 2013. This program is designed to help first generation students on their journey to obtaining their bachelor's degree. I come from a family of seven (7) where I am the only girl of five. As a way to connect to our cultural background my family and I enjoy attending local high school mariachi concerts. My three older brothers and I were all part of the mariachi program from middle school until high school. My two older brothers played guitar and my third oldest brother and myself played violin. Currently I work in the Office of Recruitment at Nevada State College as a Student Ambassador. I am grateful for this job because it has given me the opportunity to broaden my views in terms of education, professional ambition, and self-worth.
