I am a 4th Year, BA. Communication student concentrating on Electronic media in Daystar University, Athi River, Kenya. I love swimming, playing rugby and making short films. Being from the Maasai community in Kajiado, opportunities to go to school were limited when I was young since schools were few. I was lucky enough to have attended school from nursery to class eight, then form four, and later was enrolled in University. I am passionate about Journalism and Film. I have worked at Daystar University students' radio station, Shine FM, for three years now as a volunteer and have acquired skills in News and Programs collection, production and presentation. I have done Maasai, Swahili and English programs while I worked in the station. I also served as a News and Station manager in the station, a year at a time respectively.
After campus, I plan to use audio and video to tell stories in my Community. This will help spark conversations in the, otherwise, very conservative society. Since I understand the norms and taboos, I plan to approach them as a member of the community.
