Margot Steenbergen is a programme officer at Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre in The Hague, The Netherlands, where she is responsible for the promotion of learning and uptake, technical advice, game development, and relationship management. She joined the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in 2009, working for the Netherlands Red Cross both at home and in the Philippines. Prior to joining Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, she worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Save the Children, and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is a co-author of an article called "Can Games Help People Manage the Climate Risks they face?" published in Climate Centre Working Papers. Margot holds a B.A. in social sciences from the University College Utrecht, an M.A. in humanitarian assistance from the Rijks University of Groningen, and an M.Sc. in international development studies from Radboud University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
