Joyce M. HANSEN has been deputy general counsel and senior vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) since July 1993. She is responsible for the Legal Departments work in support of the FRBNYs Financial Institution supervision, markets and research groups. Having joined the FRBNY in 1979 and appointed an officer in 1983, she also served as the chairman of the Federal Reserve Banks, Subcommittee of legal counsel on securities and fiscal service from 1992 to 1995. She has served on various task forces and subcommittees of the Basle Committees on banking supervision and payment and settlement systems. She has been a member of the bar of the State of New York since 1980. She received a juris doctor degree cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979 and a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in 1974.
