I am a Year 3 student from English and Communication in Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. At the beginning, I chose this major for learning translation and interpreting. However, during the study of media, I found it interesting to learn something about media. For example, it may be difficult for the audience to justify the representation on the media is artificial then engage into it. Nevertheless, when they are aware of the authenticity of the representation, the influence given by media may be reduced in a large degree. This is relevant to media literacy, which is an interesting topic attracting me. Besides, I am curious about the dilemma about the objectivity in journalism. When reporting some news to the audience, it is important to deliver the original information with little bias. However, journalists are not machines. They have their own opinions and standpoints on certain things. Moreover, it is some valuable and deep comprehension in media that makes journalists distinct from common people. Sometimes readers may be inspired by the brilliant comments or explanation from professional journalists. Considering all of these aspects I am interested in, I hope and try to become a successful translator or an adequate interpretor. In the media fields, I will make effort to become a professional media commentator or a journalist who are able to balance the objectivity and distinctive understanding. In other words, on the basis of objective description, my featured comments on the description can help people understand better on the events give them more space to thinking and questioning, rather than adhere to only one viewpoint.
