Madeleine Mahovsky is adviser and member of Cabinet to Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy, at the European Commission in Belgium. Her career at the European Commission started in 1996 with the position of policy analyst for pension systems with the DG Employment. Prior to joining the European Commission, Dr. Mahovsky served as monetary economist in Foreign Research Division at the Austrian National Bank. She has also worked as lecturer of economics at the University of Economics and Business Administration Vienna and as freelance journalist for dailies Die Presse, Kurier, and travel magazine Traveller. Dr. Mahovsky has published several articles in English and German. She holds an M.A. in commerce and economics and a Ph.D. in economics and social sciences from the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna.
