Alma PEREZ GOMEZ is currently human rights officer at the Colombian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. From 2001 to 2003, she served as First Secretary of the Colombian Mission to the United Nations in New York . This followed her successful career in Colombia s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Women and Gender Equality, and the Colombian Agency for International Cooperation. She also worked on humanitarian affairs, including the protection of civilians, women, and children in armed conflict. More recently, Ms. Perez has worked to promote 1325 in Colombia s civil societyparticularly among womens groupswhile simultaneously building bridges between that sector and the Colombian government. Ms. Perez was a member of the Faculty of Finance, Government, and International Relations at the Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá and has authored numerous articles on Colombia s political situation. In 2006, she is a former German Government Fellow from the public management masters program at the University of Potsdam in Germany.. She is acompanied by Zayury Tibaduiza.
