The Salzburg Global Seminar's Commitment to Sustainability
The Salzburg Global Seminar and its primary operational headquarters, Schloss Leopoldskron, is an institution which reaches and informs a truly global constituency ranging from students to policy makers to the next generation of global leaders. We bring these thinkers and doers together to discuss and to come up with solutions to issues such as climate change, sustainable agriculture and the role of higher education in making such a paradigm shift. However, we understand that we must also integrate our values and goals into the very core of our organization so that we can take on the challenge to "be the change you wish to see in the world" (Gandhi). We are proud to be leading by example, inspiring and motivating all those who visit the Schloss Leopoldskron and the Salzburg Global Seminar. The current challenge to creating a sustainable world forms a significant part of our everyday behavior and attitudes. We are working towards sustainability by reviewing our current practices and inspiring our staff to find ways that we can reduce, reuse and recycle without hindering the excellent quality of service we offer in our programs and seminars and to our hotel guests. So how does a business that owns a facility built in 1736, and flies people from around the world to Austria for its programs and events, minimize its impact on the earth?
