Whole Child Development for Displaced Learners: Virtual Meeting 7

Online

OVERVIEW

An infant's early experiences—both positive and negative—lay the groundwork for their future survival, development, health, and wellbeing. A child's long-term health outcomes will directly benefit from healthy early childhood development, which has also been found to increase future possibilities, academic achievement, and even earning potential. The effects of this time period on a child's emotional and social development are particularly significant since these skills are crucial for the child's future self-assurance, communication, relationships, community inclusion, and mental health.

This seventh network meeting focused on the defining of the term "Child Development", as well as different case practices around the world. It gave participants a chance to ask questions and suggest themes that they would like future network meetings to address.

This new network is part of Porticus’ All Eyes on Learning Program. AEoL focuses on strengthening collaborative action, networking, learning and advocacy amongst influential actors working on the delivery of educational services to children and young people caught up in displacement and crisis.

The network connects donors, intergovernmental agencies, governments and educators to create and sustain commitment to whole child development in contexts of conflicts and crisis. Connecting diverse stakeholders, who in turn have connections to other networks, will help advocate for and amplify the call for quality education and whole child development for some of the most vulnerable children and students in the world.
