Salzburg Global Fellowship Advisory Meeting

Abstract

In preparation for the 2010 year of Fellowship programming, the Salzburg Global Seminar would like to consult you our Fellows, our key stakeholders, to explore how you would like to see the Fellowship develop its activities in terms of the themes we focus on; different approaches to what we do in seminars, study tours or online; and the partners with whom we can open up new opportunities. To do this, we plan to hold a series of meetings at Schloss Leopoldskron over the weekend of August 21-22 and invite all Fellows who can attend to come and take part. We plan to meet from 14:30 to 17:30 in the afternoon of 21 August and 9:30 to 12:30 the morning of 22 August (all times CET). For those of you who cannot make it to Salzburg for the event, we will also be posting live updates of the meetings on Twitter.com. To participate online, follow our twitter username: salzburgglobal and add the tag #SGSFAM to your own comments to include them in the general conversation.

In the coming month, we'll post here a map and notes about possible Fellowship events in the coming year. At the consultative meetings we would present a fuller set of proposals and invite further ideas for debate. We would very much welcome your comments and additions.

You would be most welcome to bring family or friends, if they didn't mind us borrowing you for the two consultative sessions. Overnight accommodation can be provided in the Meierhof at the Schloss for the Fellows rate of 89.25 Euro per night per single room (114.75 Euro for a double) or recommendations can be made of pensions nearby. Our meeting will take place at the same time as the Salzburg Festival and we hope you would be able to arrive earlier, or stay on later, to enjoy the city and its cultural attractions at this ideal time of year. There are also places still available at Salzburg Global Seminar's own Summer Festival, which is just beginning as we meet, with a range of activities on offer and a special focus this year exploring Darwin's legacy in his anniversary year: www.SalzburgGlobal.org/go/Darwin2009.

Should you be interested in attending the Fellowship Advisory Meeting, please send a message to Ian Brown, Manager of the Salzburg Global Fellowship (ibrown@SalzburgGlobal.org).
