Biography:
Charlotte Augst is a Policy Manager at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the United Kingdom’s regulator for treatment and research involving human embryos, where she currently manages a project that aims to reduce the number of multiple births after IVF. She came to the United Kingdom for a Master’s course in Social Justice at the University of London after graduating with a law degree from Trier University in Germany. She stayed at the University of London to do a PhD, comparing British and German approaches to regulating the then ‘new’ reproductive technologies. After completing her PhD, she worked as a Researcher to the Chair of the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee and then ran a patient information project on cancer genetics for a British cancer charity. She is married and lives in South West London where she is now working part-time to watch after her two young children.
