Nancy Smith

Director of Development and Philanthropy

Nancy R. Smith is the director of development and philanthropy. From 2001 to 2014, she served as director for philanthropy and gender at Salzburg Global. In 2014, she started her own independent consulting practice. She continued to work with Salzburg Global on multiple programs and projects in her consulting capacity. In addition, Nancy has worked with a number of international non-profit and philanthropic organizations, providing strategic analysis, communications, fundraising and development support, and has also taught courses at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg. Her most recent project was directing the Climate Action Pledge, an initiative of Global Friends Philanthropy and Tse Foundation to deepen and expand climate philanthropy. Previously, Nancy worked for Girls Incorporated, a national youth development organization based in New York, and also worked with the UN Division for the Advancement of Women (now part of UN Women). She earned a B.A. in politics from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and an M.A. in international relations from the University of Lancaster in England.
